The Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo 82 9 CFM sleeve bearing cpu cooler is one of the best coolers ever made for Intel & AMD chips - especially with people interested in overclocking. This is a 5-star review type fan from Cooler Master! With the 212 Evo you get the most popular air cooler ever released and for good reason - this really is a beast of cooling performance. With a 120mm PWM fan optimized to provide the best cooling experience and heat controlling potential for all the latest processors out there, this fan is guaranteed to reduce your temps over a stock cooler even at idle. The fan is mounted onto a highly conductive aluminum heatsink measuring 116 x 51 x 159 mm (4.6" x 2" x 6.2").

Featuring four patented Continuous Direct Contact (CDC) heat pipes that are tightly packed into a flat array on the base. This acts as a virtual vapor chamber that dissipates an enormous amount of heat. The aluminum fin construction has been optimized to give the perfect performance stability between high and low speed fan operations. This cooler will blow any stock cooler out of the park and at this price point it's an unbeatable value.

The fans on the unit are well equipped - but one feature a lot of users like is that they can be replaced with an upgrade of your choosing! They are fully designed to come off and the mounting is swappable. With that said, though, you probably won't want to go with a replacement fan because the ones that come with it are are incredibly powerful & quiet and do a great job of cooling every modern generation CPU. Installing it can be somewhat of a chore the first time you do it but every time after that it will be a breeze. And there are dozens of youtube videos and guides out there that will walk you through the process step-by-step.

The only real drawback to this fan is its large size. That means you're going to need an ATX case and you do have to be aware of obstructions surrounding your CPU socket. This cooler is much larger than any stock cooler you'll find from the major manufactuers. If your case has tight clearance requirements then you will want to measure. But if you're using a standard ATX case or some of the larer Micro ATX cases you should be fine.

The 212 EVO moves a massive amount of air for its size & cost - 82.9CFM. The 212 Evo model replaces previous versions from Coolermaster including the RR-212E-16PK-R1 and rr-e-20pk-r2. This new model is a universal style cooler that is compatible with all the major sockets - including Intel's LGA 1151 and AMD's FM2+ sockets - and all the top CPUs - including the 4690k, 4790K, 6600K, and 6700K.

Does this come with thermal compound?
By Customer Service on June 19, 2014

Yes, this comes with enough Thermal Paste for one application.
By Sarsoar from Florida on May 4, 2016

It came with a small tube that allowed me to redo the installation twice, so about 3 uses worth of paste.

Just curious, do these fans rotate clockwise?

By Customer Service on May 18, 2012

Yes, this fan would rotate clockwise so as to draw air over the cooling unit which is where the heat from the CPU is radiated to.
By Sarsoar from Florida on May 4, 2016

They blow into the radiator but you can reverse the brackets that the PWM fan is mounted on and reverse their direction. It also includes another set of brackets to mount another fan which you can mount in which ever direction you like.

I heard that this EVO version has slower fan speed than regular Hyper 212 and less air flow. Is that true?

By Customer Service on May 22, 2013

The listed fan speeds for both the Hyper 212 EVO and Hyper 212 Plus models are 600-2000 RPM.

This Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 should fit fine over your processor.

Would I be able to overclock an i7 4790k with this fan?
By Customer Service on May 24, 2016

Thank you for your inquiry. You would be able to overclock the Intel i7 4790k while using the Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 CPU cooler.

By Terry B from Dallas on May 24, 2016
Which direction should I install my Hyper 212 Evo? (The fan)
By Customer Service on May 24, 2016

Thank you for your inquiry. Though preferences vary, the general consensus is that the orientation for the Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 (or any other CPU cooler) should direct air towards the rear exhaust. This will allow better ventilation and thus keeping the system optically cooled.
