Cooler Master RR-212E-20PK-R2 Specifications

Coolermaster hyper 212 evo 82 9 cfm sleeve bearing cpu cooler - Hyper 212 Evo is the most popular and award winning processor coolers ever made by CM. The Hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler features a 120mm PWM fan optimized to provide the best user experience and cooling potential for all the latest Intel & AMD processors out there. With that also comes an aluminum heatsink measuring 116 x 51 x 159 mm (4.6" x 2" x 6.2"). Featuring four patented Continuous Direct Contact (CDC) heat pipes that are tightly packed into a flat array on the CPU Cooler base. This acts as a virtual vapor chamber that dissipates a large amount of heat. The aluminum fin construction has been optimized to give the perfect performance stability between high and low speed fan operations. This cooler will blow any stock cooler out of the water and at this price point is truly a great value. The fans on the unit are very well equipped but in case you want to go to the extreme you can replace them with upgrades very easily (they are designed that way). With that said, the stock fans are very quiet and do a great job of cooling almost every modern generation Intel or AMD chip. The only real drawback of this fan is that it is quite a bit larger than any standard stock cooler so if your case has tight clearance requirements it may be a bit too much. But if you're using a standard ATX case or most Micro ATX cases you should be fine. The 212 EVO moves a massive amount of air for its size & cost - 82.9 - and if you want to modify it the fans are easily swappable. This model replaces model RR-212E-16PK-R1 and rr-e-20pk-r2. Compatible with all the major sockets including the new LGA1151 / LGA1150 and FM2+. Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2). Cooling FanHeatsink. By Bill from Los Angeles on May 17, 2012
Just curious, do these fans rotate clockwise?

By Customer Service on May 18, 2012

Answer:
Yes, this fan would rotate clockwise so as to draw air over the cooling unit which is where the heat from the CPU is radiated to.

By bobzilla from vegas on May 22, 2013
I heard that this EVO version has slower fan speed than regular Hyper 212 and less air flow. Is that true?

By Customer Service on May 22, 2013

Answer:
The listed fan speeds for both the Hyper 212 EVO and Hyper 212 Plus models are 600-2000 RPM.

Excellent
By Noel from Riverside, California on December 19, 2015
Very quick shipping. Bought two items a day apart and they shipped together. Received my items 4 days after ordering. Everything seems in good shape with minor bends on the corners of the box for this heatsink, not that that matters to me though. Found the mail in rebate on the bottom of the webpage. Going to send it in tomorrow. I'll give it 5 stars after I test out the cooler to ensure that it is working. Overall good price and good job on their end.
Pros:
Smells wonderful
My first ever computer part to buy towards my new PC

Nice Fit
By Adam from Fargo, North Dakota on November 30, 2015
Even though this is quite a tall piece it still fit nicely into my case. Took a while to get clip to get into place but once it was on smooth sailing from there on. May put a second fan on it but currently not needed. Did not use included compound so can not remark on that.
Pros:
The option for second fan
Cons:
Clip took time to get all 4 screws in place

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Best fan you can buy for the money
By Mueller from Fairbanks, AK on November 18, 2015
If you aren't going to water cool I recommend the cm hyper 212 evo because it's the best air cooler out there right now.
Pros:
Universal compatibility so it works with a lot of sockets out there. The Hyper212 is pretty much the fan every expert recommends because of the price. Comes with thermal paste & installation instructions, etc. etc. etc.
Cons:
Dimensions on it are pretty big. Can be hard to install if you're a newb but you can youtube it

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Great fan
By Ben from St. Louis, Missouri on November 3, 2015
Haven't had it for too long but so far it works great! While it was a little challenging to figure out how to get the bracket attached to the fixture on the motherboard the rest of the instillation was amazing! Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a new CPU cooler.
Pros:
Works well, great price.
Cons:
Instillation of brackets was challenging.

It's a heatsink
By Jonathan from CO on October 17, 2015
Does it's job very well for the price. Only downside is the size, but wasn't a show-stopper. Had to get a slim fan in addition to the one it came with so it wouldn't obstruct the RAM on my motherboard. I wanted two fans on it anyway. Not really a downside, just be aware. This heatsink is huge.
Pros:
It works.
Cons:
Nada.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Master of Coolers
By J from Cullman, AL on October 16, 2015

Pretty decent cpu cooler
By Eric from TN on September 14, 2015
If you're going to overclock youre cpu this might not be the cpu cooler for you. It is a good cooler but at higher temperatures (and clocks) you might risk the integrity of your cpu.
Pros:
Keeps my cpu pretty cool
Cons:
It gives me overclock anxiety

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Affordable cpu cooler
By J stone from california on September 11, 2015
Been doing ok so far, I don't run the pc really hard at all, I casually play sims 4 , maybe have skype and a youtube stream running at the same time. Temp stays around 30 when I run the games and maybe 28 idle. I'm going to add more case fans to see if I can drop the cpu temp lower.

It was sort of a pain to install, perhaps I may re apply the paste and re seat it. I had this built on an asus mother board, had some trouble. the board was dead, installed it then on a MSI , works great and installation went by easy and no stress. Watch an install video on youtube. The instructions they give on paper just don't explain it well or visually like a tutorial video.

Pros:
affordable
allows you to attach another fan if you want
Cons:
big, find the right case size
intimidating a little bit to install
watch a video to install online ( youtube )
paper instructions given don't do well.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Does the job, a bit bulky
By Alex from California on September 11, 2015
It's huge and won't do well in smaller cases. Also the cross piece used to mount it is a pain to install. But it does what it should and you can buy and attach a second fan on it if you like.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

It stopped working after only 2 weeks. Also, difficult to install.

I managed to overclock my 4690k up to 4.7ghz with this cooler. Bang for the buck on this cooler is outstanding.
Pros:
Price

Looks badass
Cons:
Pain in the ass to install
Might not fit in mini cases

I would recommend this item to a friend.

By Priscilla from 92653 on August 21, 2015

"The CoolMaster"
By Richard C from Over Yonder, USA on July 24, 2015
While this fan does function extraordinarily (very quiet), it is a behemoth!!! I would recommend prospective buyers check their mobo / case combo to verify they will have adequate clearance to fit their hand into areas nearby the fan to plug in other connectors after they install this cooling tower.
Pros:
quiet
Cons:
it's huge

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Great cooler
By Timm Biery from Nashville, TN on July 23, 2015
Purchased to cool i4790k running slightly overclocked and it's doing the job. Temps average 33c at idle and max out around 70c at 100% load over 4 hours+. Couldn't be happier.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Perfect price for required performance
By Moinphyst from Dakota City, Nebraska on July 13, 2015
This guy gets the job done and doesn't make your wallet much thinner. It's really a great value and has fairly thorough instructions for installation.
Pros:
Easy to install
Cons:
No airflow arrows

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Its big.
By Mike from Chicago on July 8, 2015
this was the first time I ever built a computer so it was kinda weird for me. The radiator itself is huge, but putting it on was fine. After mounting it and placing the motherboard with it in the case, it was kinda hard plugging everything in. But the computer stays cool and I am very satisfied. Only gripe I have with it is you can twist it, but I think thats to design.
Pros:
Keeps the computer cool
Is adjustable
Cons:
Its big
Made of aluminum. Cut my finger.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Great Cooler
By Bobby from Orlando on July 6, 2015

Pros:

Golden
By David M from MO. on July 2, 2015
This CPU cooler is silent, not too pricey and efficient. I've never had over heating issues and I leave my PC on for days at a time. I am also running games at Ultra (when CPU runs hottest).
Pros:
Silent
Efficient
Cons:
It could be free, but whatever.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Works great, just had fan troubles
By Justin from Raleigh NC on June 29, 2015
For the cheaper end of CPU coolers this one is great. It does a perfect job of keeping my CPU cool even when I have it overclocked. The only issue I have encountered was that the fan started to make a whining noise. I tried multiple things to fix this, but ended up opting to buy a new 120mm quiet fan.
Pros:
Price and function
Cons:
Noisy fan

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Great
By Eliemer from Puerto Rico on June 8, 2015
Pros:
Price, cooling performance, and looks
Cons:
Not much. Perhaps its too high for some cases.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Cool and Quiet
By Mike from Iowa on May 16, 2015
Purchased this product to keep my new i7 5960X cool. I thought about going the CLC route but decided to save a few bucks and went with the EVO. The fan doesn't produce hardly any noise and helps keep the air flowing in the case. It sticks out pretty far off the CPU, so make sure your case is wide enough. I had to reroute some of the tubing for my GPUs liquid cooling system. It works as advertised, keeps my CPU very cool.
Pros:
No noise
Excellent air cooler
Cost effective
Cons:
Sticks out pretty far off CPU

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Beastly Cooler.
By Ty from Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 11, 2015
I bought this cooler a couple of months ago, and I'm very pleased. It keeps my 4790k under 55C while streaming, playing games, etc. (streaming is one if the most cpu intensive things you can do.) it's also super quiet. The only real "complaint" I have is that the installation was rather difficult. It's a really big cooler, and I recommend getting someone else to help you install it. Overall, excellent cooler. :) PS: Before you buy, make sure your case can fit this behemoth! I was a little worried that mine (Corsair Carbide 300R) wouldn't, but it fit nice and snug.
Pros:
Great for the price, probably the best on the market.
Super quiet.
Cools great, exceeds expectations.
Can fit almost any socket.
Comes with thermal compound and all tools necessary for install.
Cons:
No real complaints.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Best bang for your buck
By Allen from piccolodude@yahoo.com on May 6, 2015
Keeps my 4790K that is over clocked to 4.7 GHz in the low to mid 60's with a load and in the mid 30's at idle. I told a friend of mine about this and he got it but on his AMD mobo we had to mount it with the fan blowing out the top so it pull heat from the back of his GPU, for him I don't think it's that big a problem as he isn't OCing anything. I used the thermal past that comes with it and it seams to work pretty good. I'm sure if I got better thermal past it would be even cooler. All in all I'm really satisfied with this, but this is something that is temporary tell I get all the stuff I need to go water cooled.
Pros:
Low price
Keeps CPU nice and cool
Cons:
Takes away a slot of ram on my mobo unless you have low profile ram
Mounting it is a little bit of a pain in the butt
Instalation instructions can be a little confusing, make sure you duble check to make sure your looking at the right things

I would recommend this item to a friend.

By Andrew from Puyallup, Wa on April 2, 2015

Cooler Master Hyper 212
By Levi from Fair Oaks, CA on January 31, 2015
Very happy with this product. At its coolest my CPU is always very cool at around 62 F(17C) in a 70F room. I was pleasantly surprised by this. my CPU is the AMD FX-8350. I'm only using one fan on the cooler. My case is pretty well ventilated other than that though.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Great Product!
By Jeremy from Alabama on January 29, 2015
Keeps my CPU right in between 27 and 30 C, the hottest it has gotten was around 40 while gaming!

Nice cooler for the price.
By glen smith from Lakeland on December 22, 2014
While this cooler is not a liquid cooler or doesn't have eight heat pipes it is definitely worth the few dollars to pick this up as it is way better than a intel or amd stock heatsink. Also the fan that come with this heatsink isnt that bad after all and is about half the coast of this heatsink also the thermal paste that comes with this product may not be the best it is still of very high quality.
Pros:
Cheap.
Keeps anything not being OC'ed cool.
Decent fan is included.

good aftermarket cpu fan
By El from Brooklyn, New York on December 12, 2013
this is one of the most popular models of cpu fans out there, and for good reason. it's quiet and does what it's supposed to do. it's a bit big, so check the dimensions of your case to be sure it'll fit.
Pros:
quiet, works well

No complaints

Installation was slightly tasking but I consider that to be user error. Had to modify a setting in the BIOS for the computer to boot without saying "CPU fan error".

Good overall fan
By Jack from San Francisco, CA on August 10, 2013
I had the fan for around 3 months. I had to change because it was a bit large for my second case. Fan performed relatively well during use, would use again.
Pros:
Cools efficiently
Cons:
A bit large
