Basic but excellent 550w gold rated power supply
I've always had good results with corsair power supplies; and after some frustrating experiences with no name power supplies in the past, i only will use brands like corsair and egva in my computer builds, and have had nothing but excellent results. This tx series 550 watt unit has a braided sleeve on the large 24 pin connector, but the rest of the connections are just normal plastic shielded black wires. The fan is very quiet, but it does spin all the time, unlike some of the higher end corsair power supplies. While there are not a lot of fancy features here, this is definitely not a "budget" power supply, and it works great where it matters: on the inside of the unit, providing clean and consistent power to your motherboard and components. As expected, this tx550m worked immediately for me out of the box to power an i5-7500 and a gtx 1060 with a 256 gb ssd and 2tb 5400rpm drive. A modest system but it works well for basic gaming.Although it's obvious if you look at the picture or read the description, this power supply is not fully modular as the title suggests (at the time of this review). It's not a big deal, since all motherboards need the power cables that aren't removable. And there are plenty of cables to attach drives and your graphics card. Overall, this is a really nice, compact 550w power supply with a gold rating.
