Seems to be as good as previous pny ssd in this pricepoint
Works great in my low/mid-grade asus laptop with i5 processor. The machine had degraded over time (maybe due to windows 10 disk access issues?). But it is now back to like-new condition, or better. Before swapping to this ssd, the boot time was about 20 seconds to login and then more than 30 seconds to having all the icons on the desktop. Chrome took another 20 to 30 seconds or more to load and be usable from that point. So it had gotten pretty in-tolerable. But now boot time is 5 seconds to login and about 1 second to fill the desktop and be usable from there. Chrome loads in about 2 or 3 seconds. Everything is very snappy as a computer should be.After buying the drive, but before getting started, i looked it up on-line for specs, the last pny 240 g drive i bought for another machine was a cs1311. So i wanted to check if the cs900 was a lower grade. To make a long story short - it seems fine. But i was worried initially when i noticed the packaging of the older cs1311 said "high performance" and the newer cs900 did not. Worse yet - i compared the brochures from the pny website, and the newer cs900 had no specs on random read and write times, but the older cs1311 did. (sequential read/write numbers were fine, but hey - its the random read/writes that determine how snappy the machine is going to be. A longer google search turned up a cs900 brochure on a european site that did have random read/write numbers and they looked fine. Plus, reading everything i could find (which wasn't a lot) suggested that pny just changed the chipsets slightly, but still positioned the cs900 the same as the cs1311 on the price/performance dimension for marketing. In the end, as noted above, it is definitely fine - and maybe even better than the cs1311 (can't tell because my two laptops are different). But i have to say that i am baffled as to why pny would drop the important read/write performance data - making the produce appear potentially bad. I don't think that was a good marketing decision on their part !One other minor thing. When i tried to go to the webpage listed in the installation sheet for the cloning program, it said "not found". But after a bit of searching online i found it. Just make sure you get the right version (i think it said 2017 oem). So a bit of an annoyance, but no biggie :-)
