Works ok on usb 3 thumb drive, but not hard drive
I can plug my usb 3.0 thumb drive into the hub and it works ok. But when i plug in a portable hard drive it fails when copying files. I can plug the same hard drive straight into my usb port on the back of my computer and it works fine. This happens even with the ac adapter connected to the back of the hub, this problem occurs even without any other devices plugged into the ports of the hub. This hub obviously does not provide enough power to the portable hard drives.

Usb 3.0 hub
I have a high speed usb 3.0 port in my system and was looking to expand without having to install a pci-e card, this hub works great with my 3.0 devices as well as my 2.0. I would highly recommend.

No power
This device should work on plug in and power up. Maybe i received a dud. There is no power on it and the unit smelled burned when i received it. Thus to the dustbin and order something that work. No use in returning it at my cost. The shipping fees donn't justify the replacement cost.

Fast, but severe connection problems
It's usb 3.0, so it's blazing fast, when it works.Unfortunately, it frequently has problems connecting, and your sitting there hearing the connection and disconnection beeps repetitively until you remove and reinsert the usb3.0 plug and hope that this time it works. Which it usually doesn'tas i sit here, it's truly driving me crazy. It simply doesn't work with any reliability at this point, less then 1 month after purchase.Learn from my mistake, and steer far away from the usb hub

The usb 3.0 hub worked great at first, but now drops connections
I have been using the syba superspeed hub with my windows 7 64 bit laptop for a month and have been pleased with the hub. I have found i can use the hub without needing to plug in the included power cord for most devices with the exception of 2.5 inch hard drives which use two usb plugs. These hard drives apparently demand more power and would not work without the additional power supplied to the hub.All four of the usb ports on my hub work perfectly with any of the devices that i have plugged into the hub including mice, keyboards, hard drives and other devices. What i have found is that windows 7 will not give a warning when the hub itself is plugged into a usb 2 port. It was only when i plugged into the hub a usb 3.0 device that my computer gave a warning that the device would perform faster if plugged into a usb 3.0 port.A downside to the syba superspeed hub is the piercingly bright blue power light. It definite could have been toned down a bit. I would as well have liked to have seen another indicator light to warn when too much power was being demanded so that the user knew to plug the hub into the power supply as would be the case if a drive was plugged into the hub. A third light to indicate when the hub was plugged into the power supply rather than running off of the usb connection would as well have been a nice feature.Overall, a good, no frills powered usb 3.0 hub. It is plug and play and does exactly as advertised.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------update september 11, 2012 - the usb hub is now dropping the connection to my devices whenever i bump the cable between the hub and my laptop. Usually i will hear the windows chime that advises that a device has disconnected from the computer and it is just a matter of unplugging the usb cable to the hub and then plugging it back in to get my devices working again. However, sometimes the devices are not recognized by windows on the first try. When i try to use my external hard drive through the hub while the hub is powered, the computer has trouble maintaining a connection to the hub.My original review was for 4 stars because the hub worked flawlessly and did so for over a year. But, it just didnt last and i am now looking for a replacement hub. Therefore, i have reduced my rating to 2 stars since it really should have lasted for longer than this.

Loses connection all the time
When it works it is lightning fast. The problem is that in the middle of file transfers it loses connection and then seems to recover shortly after and your hear theda-dong" and windows pops up that your usb device is ready to use. The is not a problem with usb 3 port on laptop as when only one usb 3 device is being used i am not experiencing this problem. Not many on the market yet and would look at others or wait for more tested hubs.

No joy
Didn't work for me. Everything seemed fine for the first two minutes. Then it started dropping connection. Then it was back. Then gone. Nope. This on a win 7 64 bit setup, plugged into a 3.0 pci card (which works perfectly).Back it goes.

Useful tool
I recieved this in great time. Hopefully it will solve the problem connecting all my equipment. It is small enough that is does not take up a lot of space on my desk.

What is nesssary to make 3.0 compatible with windows 7?

By Customer Service on 2012-05-17

Answer:
USB 3.0 is a hardware upgrade,Windows will utilize the B"US the same as USB 1.1 and 2.0. You may want to update the SUB controller driver within device manager to ensure proper recognition.

How much data transfer speed is lost for each added device connected (mb/sec or %).? I understand that the data usb cable is plugged into a single USB 3.0 port. Thank you

By Customer Service on 2012-11-27

Answer:
It's very difficult to define an exact number or percentage, as the division will vary wildly depending on the different products you use with the hub. If you plugged in two of the exact same external hard drives into this hub and move the exact same file from both to your desktop, the hub would split the bandwidth exactly in two.
