FAQ & Section Info
What liquid should I use in my system?
What liquid to use as a base for your system is an important decision to make. In theory you could use just about any liquid but some yield better results than others. Whatever you choose do not use tap water. Tap water is impure and contains many minerals and bacteria that will clog and corrode your expensive water cooling system which can lead to pump failure. A slightly better option is de-ionized water. De-ionized water is basically water that is non-conductive which can be beneficial for the first 24 hours of leak testing. Although non-conductive at first, over time when running in your loop the water will corrode your water blocks to gain it's ionic properties back. The best choice is distilled water due to it's price and purity. Since distilled water has most impurities removed you no longer have to worry about corrosion or agal blooms.
What additives should I use?
We recommend using water wetter for a boost in thermal capacitivity and reduced corrosion. We also recommend a silver kill coil or biocide for algae prevention. Silver by nature is an antimicrobial element. You may also add dyes for aesthetic purposes.
Most technicians use and recommend distilled water. Distilled water has all the impurities and minerals removed to give you long-lasting fluid that will protect your hardware from future issues. Avoid tap water and purified drinking water. Even still, with any form of water you want an anti algae additive to kill any possible growth. Something like PT nuke or Mayhems Extreme Biocide to pre treat the water with a few drops.
