Beware of product versions! Latest version no longer has thumb rest button
The mouse i received does not have a button on the thumb rest as shown in the pictures! It boggles my mind how logitech could sell two clearly different products at the same price point and using the same part number but apparently that's what they're doing.I just received this item and there is no button on the thumb rest and no screen printing on the top button. I believe it is a newer version of the famed m705 mouse although there is no indication of that in the outletpc description. If you visit the logitech page and search for "m705" outletpc won't let me post outside links) you'll find that there are several of these products. The pn: 910-001935 and for the one with the thumb-rest button the word "business" appears in the url (but not in the product name on the page). There is as well a software cd included. The one without the thumb-rest button and no screen printing on the top button has the same part number and is actually listed for the same price on their website, while the photos clearly show a different item and the word "business" does not appear in the url.The specifications say "product origin: china" (whereas no location was listed for the "business" item) and no cd is included. Additionally the description says "laser grade tracking" whereas the original just says "laser tracking". I have no idea whether the "grade" modifier actually means anything but it sounds like business speak for excluding a real laser.Although i do believe that both mice are indeed logitech items, it's unfortunate that they decided to sell multiple versions of the same item with the same name and even the same part number! If this is a newer or different version that should be clearly indicated so that discerning consumers can tell the difference. It seems to me they are attempting to increase profit margins by reducing manufacturing costs (eliminating the thumb rest button) and passing the item off to the consumer as the same product.Additionally the item on this page does indeed show the thumb rest button in the photos, so outletpc has it wrong as well.In summary if you're actually trying to receive the item with the thumb button, there's no way to tell them apart on the outletpc website.Edit: after contacting outletpc we had a lengthy discussion and ultimately i was referred to the manufacturer i chatted with a logitech representative and apparently the "new" version lacking the thumb rest button is the latest version of the item. What's more they no longer have the old version in stock. What's a guy gotta do to get the version shown in the pictures?!
