Well made male dvi to vga and dvi-d splitter
A bit pricy but i've always found startech products to be reliable. I've as well found that when i have to deal with dvi i have to look things up on the web. If you hare having trouble then it's a good idea to do some research before continuing. It's a splitter which means that you can attach both a vga and a dvi-d monitor to a computer. Before you order be sure that a dvi-d is what you need. It is well made and has been working well.

Make sure you know the difference between dvi and vga before buying
The first thing to note about this product is that it allows you to connect a dvi-i source to 2 monitors (dvi-d and a vga). I initially did not do my homework on dvi and this cable did not work on my downstairs setup. When i finally looked up the differences between dvi i was able to move around monitors and get this to work right. Keep in mind that you can use this to connect a digital source (dvi) to a vga and dvi but it wont allow you to connect an analog source to dvi. This is not the cable's fault but rather the nature of digital and analog sources. Once you know know the differences in dvi cables as well as sources, you will find that this cable works flawlessly. There was no lag time between the displays and windows was able to handle the mirroring over the 2 displays perfectly. I used this for spanning across 2 monitors and that as well worked without a problem (i used windows for the setup as well. Overall considering the price and the quality this is a very good product.

Kind of pricey, but it's what i needed.
This 6-foot splitter cable gives you options. It keeps me from having to have multiple cables, which is what i needed. So far, it’s been working without a problem. I think at the current price of almost twenty bucks, it’s a bit expensive. . .But. . . Again, it keeps me from having to have multiple cables, so it works for me.

Useful for dual screen with laptop
Perfect splitter cable to be able to use an extended desktop option with a lenovo laptop. The length is just sufficient for most home offices setups and working fine since last 1 month.

Connects your peripherals with ease
This cable gives you the option of using several ports to connect your peripherals even using two at the same time if you like. I had gotten it with the intent of connecting a monitor to a streaming device but ended up using it with a computer. Mainly because what i really needed was a converter to a hdmi outlet.

It would as well be very helpful if you were switching displays frequently and did not have easy access to the rear of the computer
This is a high quality, well built cable. I thought there may be a possibility that i could run both the dvi and vga simultaneously, but after 20 minutes to or so, i could not. It would seem that this cable is for the application that can not accommodate the dvi to vga adapter, but needs to go directly to vga. It would as well be very helpful if you were switching displays frequently and did not have easy access to the rear of the computer.

Cool idea, couldn't get it to work
I was using this to try and connect my radeon hd 5700 series card to 2 dell 1707fpv monitors and for the life of me, i couldn't get it to work. What's worse, my attempts to do so messed up my system settings and it took me a good 10 minutes to try and revert everything to the way it was so that i could use my monitors the way i had been before. I suspect i'm doing something wrong. When i first boot up, the bios screen flashes up on my dvi monitor, but as soon as windows boots, it only displays on my vga monitor and i can't get the dvi monitor to do anything. I tried "detect". I tried "advanced settings". I tried using the catalyst control center. Nothing. Couldn't get it to do a darn thing. The fact that the signal did go to the dvi monitor during boot up tells me that everything is connected securely and there isn't anything wrong with the wiring or anything like that, but my computer just seemed to hate it, all the same. I should say that i'm no computer dummy, either. I feel confident in asserting that, at least for my setup here, if i couldn't figure it out, then i suspect that at least 80% of the population would have just as many problems as me. It's a great idea, but i can't recommend it because it is not nearly as obvious how you are supposed to set it up as it appears to be. Oh, and if you are going to try it, do take note that the computer end is dvi-i which is to say that it has those 4 extra pins by the long, horizontal pin. Now that i think about it, that could be my problem--i know that some video cards will have the holes for those extra pins, but don't actually make use of them...
