Won't buy gigabyte again because of flaky wireless
I built my computer and didn't notice that the wireless wasn't working right at first. It kept disconnecting at first and then it stayed connected and surfing the internet was fine but trying to download a file was terrible. It would start the download and then just quit. Same thing with transferring files from any computer on my network, it would start the transfer and then just quit.Everything else on the board works flawlessly.I contacted gigabyte support and they said that it sounds like a bad wireless controller so i had to completely tear the new computer apart and rma the board which cost me $16.00 to send to them.Hopefully a replacement board will be good. If so, i will change my rating.Update:after sending the mb back to them they didn't even open the box for 6 days. I finally got it back after 13 days and they said it was just fine, and they said the wireless worked for them. Unfortunately they must not have even tested the wireless because nothing has changed and the mb had little splatters and gobs of thermal paste all over the mb including in 1 of the ram slots, so my guess is that they were behind on rma's and they just went through the basics as fast as they could. The mb works fine as long as i have a cat5 cable in it but the reason i bought the mb with wireless was to get away from the cable and that is not going to happen so don't waste your money on the wireless board.I would have to say that either the intel wireless ac 9260 is terrible or the process that gigabyte used to integrate it into the mb was bad.I've always used asus mbs in the past with never a problem and this was my first gigabyte mb and it will be my last.
