Cools well, but not "low noise"!
I installed this fan in a server i built for storing media (music and videos), hoping that it would help keep the temps of the server (which is always on, and is built from parts from several old pcs) down into a reasonable range, and do so without a lot of added noise. It's set up as a case fan that pulls air out of the back of the case (the case has a grille and mounting points for an 80mm fan for this purpose). The good: the fan moves a reasonable amount of air, and temps were reliably lowered by about 4 to 10 degrees c- which is just what i wanted. The red leds are...Interesting; my niece says they make the old junker look a bit better...The bad: this is not a low noise fan. It has a loud and high pitched whine, and since it's a case fan, that whine is continuous. I can hear it from across the room easily, and since it's always on, it gets irritating pretty fast.As a cooling fan, it's a good product and i'd recommend it- as long as you can put the pc you installed it in somewhere where you can't hear it. Like in the garage or in a closet?
