Not any more reliable than budget drives

I learned the hard way that wd blacks are prone to fail at about the same rate as any other drive. I have used wd blacks for years having purchased them with the understanding that they were significantly more reliable than other drives. Not so! Most recently i had two wd blacks (1tb from 2009 and 2tb from 2011) fail on me in the same week. Granted these were older drives, but no older than many budget drives that i as well own and are still working fine.The failures seem to happen following major config or hardware changes. Both of my most recent failures occurred after hardware upgrades. In one case, a pc was converted to pci-e nvme boot drive. In another case, a pc had its motherboard replaced. Coincidence? It's hard to say, but if it is just a coincidence then it is a very rare one.In short, don't believe the hype. Absolutely no reason to pay more for wd blacks when drives costing three times less are going to be just as reliable.

Unfortunately this one has had issues since i first got it. It takes a couple of seconds to read anything on the drive and freezes up my windows folders every time i want to start going through my hard drives

These are great hard drive disks. I upgraded my 4tb external raid system with 4 of these, giving me a total of 12tb, but 9tb useable because i have it configured with raid (thunderbolt)

Been using this since january 2015, primarily as a storage drive for steam games. Haven't had any problems with it at all ever. Hasn't clicked, hasn't died, etc. I was hesitant to get it at the time because i thought it would be particularly noisy, as i had been using wd green drives before then. The noise level is inconsequential, not even coming close to the "old days" of 2002 computers, even when running particularly high load. My graphics card regularly drowns out any hard drive even just idling.

Little noisy but works well

Good, fast for hdd, louder than old model.

I bought this to replace an aging wd 1tb caviar black. It works well, but it is considerably louder than the 1tb version, i dunno why, or if it will affect long term reliability, but it is annoying. It been operating reliably for 6mo now.
