Fired right up, works great
I built my video editing in 2009 so my motherboard is all sata ii, which wasn't a problem when my c drive for os and apps was a 300gb wd velociraptor, because mechanical drives running singly (not raid) can't leverage all of sata iii anyhow. But recently i pulled the wd drive and replaced it with a sandisk extreme ssd 120gb gb sata 6.0 gb-s2.5-inch solid state drive- sdssdx-120g-g25. Being ssds take advantage of sata iii speeds i really wanted it to run at full throttle. I searched and found this gem of a card which solved two problems (2nd one in a moment). First and foremost, i plugged in this card and then my ssd onto it internally, and with the proper boot settijg in the bios, the rig fired right up booting off of this card with the ssd attached. That was a huge great relief. I did write their tech support previously to question if it was bootable and thety got back to me with a day and confirmed that it was, so that's why i gave it a go. Now my ssd went from a wei score of 7.4 on the sata ii motherboard to 7.8 on this card so it obviously works! The second problem it solved was that my lacie quadra d2 external drive was running on usb 2.0 even though it as well sports an esata port, and backups were slow especially with dozens of video files larger than 2gb a piece, so now that i was able to plug it into the external esata port on this card, backups are blazing fast now!Fyi, even though this card is pci-e 1x, i'm running it in the third of my three pci-e x16 slots and it works just fine. I run a gtx 570 in the first slot, a 3ware raid card in the 2nd slot as well a 1x card sitting in an x16 slot) and this sata iii card in slot 3, and all works perfectly. Yes, the slot is way longer than the card but those pins do line up right where they are sitting.Great card!
