Okay, but not the best you can do for this price point.
Well built, but not the best you can do, especially for the price. The bass that these come with will not compete with anything that a subwoofer can offer you. It's nice to be able to adjust the bass from your desktop, but you aren't going to get anything heart thumping from these. It'll be decent. They as well aren't the loudest speakers in the world, but for a desktop setup, these are fine. The sound quality is decent, like stated above. Ii'm not a competitive gamer to judge if these will give you any kinds of advantages, though from the games that i have played, these haven't offered me anything particularly special that a cheap set of desktop speakers can offer me. From the perspective of an audiophile, don't get these speakers if you're the picky type (which you probably are if you're an audiophile). While listening to music, i notice that these speakers don't pick up on some of the more subtle undertones embedded in some of my favorite tracks. Even a cheap pair of earplugs can pick up these undertones, which was disappointing. But what it lacks in that department, it excells in clarity and sharpness. Music does not become distorted even at higher volumes and music is rather enjoyable when using these, but like i said, just as long as you aren't the picky type. If you're looking into these as an alternative to saving subwoofer space, know that the bass is not only not on par with a subwoofer, but are not a space saving solution. Some of the pictures can be a bit misleading, but make no mistake, these things are huge. They are very tall, and very thick/bulky. If you have a mid-sized desk, it could honestly be a hit or miss if these will fit in with your setup. Smaller setups really have to measure out if these are worth it. I wouldn't get these if i had a small desk setup. Sadly, the last thing about these, and a big reason i only give these a 3 star, is the led lights. They're disappointing. Not flashy whatsoever, and very much muted, as they appear only around the outer rims of the base, peaking out from underneath. It actually just looks like light bleed that you would get out of the cracks of a defective monitor. If you are tempted to buy these for an extra 50 bucks, i would recommend against it. The light show that you get for that kind of money won't be well spent, nor is it worth the usb bandwidth. Although, if you buy these for 100 bucks (non led version), i'd say that's a pretty good buy for what these are. I would actually bump up the score for the 100 dollar version to a 4 star just because of its price to value ratio. The led version is a tougher sell, even for hardcore gamers that deck out their setups in led lights. This addition to your light show will be a dim underwhelming one.
