This little package. Came with everything i needed to mount it inside of my new computer case. I was a little worried about the speed been diminished from the m2 drive. But it was not. I will definitely buy another set of these as i continue to use them to drive now going forward.

It looked so promising...
Well, this was a mistake. I read the specs & other reviews. It should have worked but didn't. I have a 256 gb samsung m.2 2280 from a lenovo yoga 3 pro that was working fine. I've tried it in this adapter in no less than four external cases and it simply does not work. And btw, i have 20+ years of it career and comptia a+ hardware certification...

Does not work. Computers say to initialize, then ...
Does not work. Computers say to initialize, then says its not ready. That's through usb adaptor; directly through motherboard, or in laptop slot, it is invisible. M.2 drive is samsung xp 941, drive has stuff on it, and was used as c drive on x99 chipset; and same for brand new 950 pro. Bios accept nvme.

Very good

PCB obstructs side screw holes. No retaining screw for m.2 2280 drives.
Good: construction looks pretty solid.Bad: the circuit board obstructs entry of the side mounting screws. Included hardware doesn't hold a size 2280 m.2 drive in place. If you plan to mount using side screws, or if you expect an adapter like this to include a proper retaining screw and spacer for your ssd, i suggest buying a different model, like this one:ableconn isat-m2sa m.2 ngff sata ssd to 2.5-inch sata adapter with aluminum frame bracket - convert m.2 sata ssd as 2.5" 7mm sata drive

Incorrect dimensions for a laptop carrier tray.
When mounted into the hard drive carrier tray of a dell precision 7510 the sata connector on the m.2 adapter did not quite line up with the connector in the laptop's drive bay. After wiggling things around for a while i could get the connectors to mate, but then i could not tighten down the screws that hold the tray down. The frame is very thin aluminum sheet which bends easily. The mounting hole threads will probably strip after being used a few times.

It does what it does without any issue.
I'm writing this review as a personal non-paid review. I bought this product for my own personal use.I bought two of these to upgrade my old pc and laptop to ssd, i decided to go for m.2 format in order to use these in future for other systems where the m.2 slots will be integrated in the motherboards. These adapters are passive, so you can only use sata m.2's on them and connect them to regular sata interface or put them directly inside a laptop or even an external enclosure. My laptop is limited to sata ii speeds so it was the limited factor to test this but it served as good compatibility test also. The m.2 was a samsung 850 evo 500gb sata iii. The drive saturated the sata ii interface to it's knees. I was getting around 280mb/s read and 260mb/s write well below the ssd capability of 540/520 mbs nevertheless the adapter worked perfectly and i has all things you need to install the m.2. So it wasn't an issue at all and the drive fit's perfectly in the laptop without any issue. In the pc, the pc is sata iii capable so i was actually having the full speeds of the ssd, and i didn't expect anything strange as this is just a passive adapter again, just to use a simple sata m.2 drive in a 2.5" form factor.Speed were as expected also, there's nothing here to say i was getting the full speed of the m.2 sata.. Iirc it was 548/524 mb/s.The m.2 drive has plenty of space to breath, even when using a full length one like mine, the drive stayed well within the physical dimension of the 9mm 2.5" drive. The only issue with this adapter is the hard edge's you must be careful not to injure your self with this adapter.
