Five stars
Part of my raid 10 system
By Matheo Begum
Fast, cheap, and loud
I've had this drive for little over a year now, its fast and you can't really beat the price for the amount of capacity you get. When i got the drive it was relatively quiet, but with time my drive has gotten significantly more noisy, to the point where i'm wondering if it's going to fail, and it seems to be getting worse. I've never owned a hard drive that makes this much noise and i'm now at the point where i wish i just paid more for a better drive such as a wd black."you get what you pay for," has proved true once again.

Great now that i have them on intel sata controller.
So far so good, getting about 300-400 mbps is a raid 5 array via software raid on win server 2016. Be warned the old motherboard i used for this homebrew nas had both jmicron and intel ich10 sata controllers/ports available. I initially had these plugged into the jmicron ports and i was having a lot of issues (high system interrupt usage, drives reporting as failed in the array, etc..) i was about to return the drives thinking they were at fault, but decided to try the intel ich10 ports before i did that. Sure enough they have been working great, same os, same software raid array. Now they are speedy, no noticeable system interrupt utilization, and not one error on the array. This is just something to keep in mind if you have issues with them, try a different controller if you have one available before thinking it is solely the drives fault.

Do not buy
I've had this hard drive for close to 8 months and each time i've had it fail on me three times. The scenario is largely the same--i use the hard drive with no issues for a couple of months, and then mysteriously i get a "location is not available" error saying that the drive is not accessible. None of the data is recoverable or accessible, and i'm forced to reformat the hard drive. A couple of months later, the same thing happens again. I've decided to give up on this thing after a third failure. You're better off avoiding and looking elsewhere.

One star
Bought 2 drives and both failed immediately. Unacceptable quality when seagate white-labels have higher reliability.

This is working great as a backup drive for my movies.

Had to return. Would not mount on any of my mac computers. Not sure if drive is defective or just not compatible with mac but i lean towards defective because of the strange noise it made when operated.
By Herman Stenseth
Initially, a bad test is required.
We are satisfied with price and quality stability. But the noise is quite a bit.

$140 is insane for any hard drive of this size+128mb cache
Have os and important things on ssd but this is my mass storage device and i haven't had any issues with it so far. Seems to be really good. Not sure why i got it so cheap for size and speed but id say i got a really good deal even compared to "gaming level hard drives." i would give it 5 stars if i had more experience with it but it's only been a month and a half and it's not my primary storage.
