So far i have no issues with this board. It has lots of flexibility in terms of where you can place your hookups and that?€™s good since everyone needs something different. My only complaint is that the ram sockets have red led lights above them that i haven?€™t been able to turn off without turning off all the leds. That?€™s unfortunate because i like the blue glow the board offers but hate those bright red ones that never turn off.Cpu: amd - ryzen 5 2600x 3.6ghz 6-core processor ($223.54 @ outletpc msi - x470 gaming pro carbon atx am4 motherboard ($191.09 @ outletpc corsair - vengeance lpx 16gb (2 x 8gb) ddr4-2666 memory ($174.99 @ outletpc samsung - 960 evo 250gb m.2-2280 solid state drive ($117.98 @ outletpc samsung - 860 evo 500gb 2.5" solid state drive ($144.99 @ outletpc card: msi - geforce gtx 1050 ti 4gb video card ($189.00 @ outletpc nzxt - s340 elite (black) atx mid tower case ($88.52 @ outletpc supply: evga - supernova g3 650w 80+ gold certified fully-modular atx power supply ($79.99 @ outletpc $1210.10prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when availablegenerated by pcpartpicker 2018-05-11 11:41 edt-0400

Msi x470 is a great board overall
I didn't get the ryzen 1 since i was skeptical for 1st gen of anything so i opt out and went with ryzen 2.Msi x470 is a great board overall. Their mystic light software still needs some work but then again all rgb software in the market is not good either.I do like their new carbon look and love the m.2 shield improvement. The most impressive feature is the audio boost which supposedly improves input/output, and it did just that.I can recommend this board to any mid-tier build but that's about it.

It gets better though. Don't try to get ahold of customer ...
The motherboard is ok it's nearly impossible to get into the bios and i loaded everything onto an hdd to make it easier. Basically when you load your computer this board reloads your drivers 3 or 4 times and bam you're at your operating system. It gets better though. Don't try to get ahold of customer support because it's non-existent it's like trying to get in contact with winnie the pooh to tell him you have pots of honey that he can come eat. I would recommend asus i never had any problems with my asus board and i never had difficulty talking to someone if i needed an respond for a question. Msi is a california company and that should tell you all you need to know.

Hdmi port is useless
From what i now know the hdmi is only good with certian processors and not my ryzen 5 2600x. This was not evident when purchased.

Bios xmp setting worked great to automagically set the ram at the proper speed
Used for an xubuntu 18.04 install. Expected i'd need to spend hours tweaking the bios and xubuntu to get everything working well - but i didn't have to! Everything worked out of the box. I did upgrade to the latest bios before doing the xubuntu install. And i did set the bios boot mode to "legacy+ufei", as normal ufei boot can be a pain for linux (depending on the board & linux version). Ram was g.Skill ripjaws v, 2666, 16gb (as spec'd on msi's support site for this board). Bios xmp setting worked great to automagically set the ram at the proper speed. Super stable board so far. Latest ubuntu/xubuntu 18.04 kernel works just fine. The only con i can think of is that the board's led lights cannot be controlled significantly from the bios - only via a windows app. So, since i'm running linux, the led lights are always doing their default display sequence.

Great motherboard, rgb control could use a rework though
As far as a motherboard goes, it?€™s what i?€™ve come to expect from msi. Easy to work on and very stylish design. With 2 m.2 connections, 4 memory channels that supports up to 64gb of ram this board does what you need and quickly. Downside is there are only 6 usb ports on the back so unless your case has quite a few itself, you?€™ll need to get an expansion card. Sli ready is a plus with metal pci-e ports which act as a bit of a heat sync. Only gripe is on their mystic light rgb controlling software. It?€™s going your basic led control functions but the effects aren?€™t as customizable as you?€™d hope. You can?€™t customize each led color if you are using an effect or sometimes not at all and have to take the preset colors for the effect. All in all, great board for the price!
