Good hdd dock
Used to check sectors on several discs with no problem. Will change review if i experience any wonky happenings but as of now it seems good.

Syba usb 3.0 dual bay sata hdd dock (sy-enc50091)
So far, i've used it with one 3.5" sata hdd, and it works perfectly (windows recognizes it, etc). I've only used one of the two i ordered thus far, and i've only used one of the two bays, and have not had a need for the drive-to-drive clone feature (i'll probably never use that). It isn't quite as stable (heavy in the base) as the old thermaltake toasters i've used up to now, so if you've only got one drive inserted (a 3.5"), it can overbalance and tip forward if you're not careful (almost knocked it over scooting it to another place on the desk). The bays themselves aren't as solid-feeling as my tt toasters, but for around $20 bucks for a usb 3.0 toaster for occasional use, you really can't complain. It otherwise does what it's supposed to, so i'm not going to dock it a star for build quality.

On macos sierra, you can not add or remove a drive without the other drive ejecting as well.

Great, maybe noisey though
Really nice. Works when you just want to mount both hard drives separately and no do a duplication or raid with them. I wish it was a bit more sturdy, but for the price, what more can you expect. Right now have some wd greens in there which run very cool and quiet, but i did briefly have an hgst server drive and it was super hot and loud since there is no case around it. Not syba's fault, but something to keep in mind.

Seems to work properly. Have not had a chance to test the clone function.

You get what you pay for
This product is the least expensive of its kind and it's really bad. I ordered two of these for a little raspberry pi nas. What a mistake.1) do not use these for raid setups. I attempted to use two of these to hold four hard drives in a raid5 configuration. Nope. After every power cycle the raid array was destroyed. So i changed to two raid1 arrays. Nope. Same thing. After every power cycle, the raid array was destroyed on both units.2) after the unit stops receiving power (after a power outage for example) the unit stays off. Pretty bad for any kind of long-term storage setup. I have these behind a panel at my house, and it is very annoying to have to open it up to turn these things back on.3) the software-less "clone" feature is activated by a single press of the button on the front that is very easy to press accidentally because i had to fumble around in the dark to turn the unit back on after every power outage. The button to turn it on is on the back. If you press that button, say goodbye to the data on the "b" hard drive. Good thing i didn't trust this thing and had a backup of that data.4) so i purchased a better product for the raid setup and have been using one of these as an external hard drive enclosure for two drives. After about three months, the unit started disconnecting, and i have to power cycle it every time the computer it is attached to reboots.Bad. I would only use this if you need to access or clone a drive once or rarely. It is not an every day solution. Spend an extra $10 and get something better.

worked great for me ! :) (clone laptop hard drive to new SSD drive)
I was nervous about buying this at first given the negative reviews for it... As it turns out, for my purposes... Cloning an ancient (lenovo g570's) hard drive to a new ssd drive to improve the laptop's performance (ssd drives were also on sale relatively cheap too around cyber monday/black friday sales) .... The enclosure worked great ! :) given it's an ancient laptop i wasn't surprised that it took a few hours to clone the windows installation that comes with the laptop onto the ssd drive (used the free 30 day trial version of ease us todo ) but once the clone was complete, the laptop booted up and worked :) .. Since it's an ancient laptop i should point out it was running at usb 2.0 speeds so i can't vouch for it's usb 3.0 performance (though i did test it on the usb 3.0 slots on my newer computer and sure enough the usb 3.0 appeared to work for simple things like copying one file ..I will update my review accordingly if a situation comes up where i use it with a computer modern enough for usb 3.0 technology, like cloning a drive or backing it up for example)... Note: one should definitely look for and follow multiple sources of info when doing something like this for the first time... For example it wouldn't have occurred to me to make a windows 7 recovery disc and thank goodness i did, the laptop hiccuped when it first started up (not necessarily the fault of the enclosure, bear in mind i was cloning a proprietary windows install onto a brand new hard drive.. Granted i'm the owner of the laptop so i should be able to upgrade at will to begin with :p but the laptop doesn't necessarily know that and these things can be tricky)... The win 7 recovery disc got me back up and running right away ...

Works well with my raspberry pi 3 b as a nas server.

CHEAP JUNK and absolutely AWFUL company. AVOID SYBA AT ALL COSTS.
Pro: worked nicely, while it lasted.Con: base unit failed after only a few months-totally dead, and i verified the ac adapter was still producing 12v. And most of that time it wasn't even powered up. Syba issued rma but insists: "please note that customer will pay the shipping for return items". That means i have to pay as much in rma shipping as the thing cost in the first place. Warning: if you see this on sale for what looks like a great price, it is because it is cheap junk and they know their so-called warranty won't be needed because of their shipping policy. Do not buy syba, and if you do do not assume their warranty is useful.
