Quite and fast for a 2.5" internal laptop drive - happy with it!
The 2tb version of this drive is working like a clock in my 2011 macbook pro 17". The drive is quiet and fast for a 2.5" internal laptop drive. This drive will perform better than a firecuda sshd, unless you're just working with small files (if you're only surfing the web, checking email, and storing pictures, the sshd might be better for you - it will load your system and small files faster than the hdd).I've attached the blackmagic speed test for the drive in the sata iii main drive bay (122 mb/s write and 135 mb/s read).Note: all spinning drives transfer data faster when using the outer sectors of the disk (rotational velocity is most rapid at the disk's edge). So, as the drive fills up, it will slow down. If you partition the drive, put the data you use most in the first partition (this will be the outer position on the drive) because it will provide the fastest transfer rates (higher rotational velocity). So, if you're using a partition for backups that you don't need fast transfer rates, you can make that your last partition. You can convince yourself of this by running a speed test on a partitioned disk. The first partition will be faster ~ 10 - 30% faster.
