Poor/slow warranty support. They, or the folks they contracted to handle warranty, get an d
I have bought and upgraded 50 or more ssds. I started in 2011 with sandisk units and after a couple years switched to samsung. Now after 7 years i can confidently say i am an expert at lifespan and warranty. I had an early sandisk fail, and they were good as i remember with the rma process. I only got about 8 of them in the first year and with trepidation upgraded a few clients. Of those 8 i still have one or two myself, and the first "end user" (i'm an it guy) had no issues and i just got the ssd back as the machine was retired. I threw it in a laptop and it worked great. Only sata 2, but still works well! I switched to samsung, 840 evo, 840 pro, 850 evo, and 850 pro. I upgraded about 40 (or more users) and only a couple ever gave me grief. Although the samsung rma is kind of a pita (have to call live) the could times i did they make a rma and immediately sent me a prepaid label to ship back the ssd. Then withing a day of getting it they would send me out a warranty unit. Shipping both ways, they paid.I am not impressed at all with corsair. I saw it on sale and figured i would try one out and see how it compared. It worked great for 11 months and then died totally. Not the end of the world, happens so i swap it out and eventually rma it. Their site was not great but worked. I was kind of irked as it was "my expense" to ship it to them. So their hardware failure is my expense. So $12 later in shipping i send back the ssd. I then kind of intentionally forgot about it, thinking it would just show up one day. Over a month later i emailed them and said "what is taking so long, you got it over a month ago". They emailed me a few days later they just shipped it. So was it coincidental it took them over a month or were they going to do nothing if i did not email back. So now it has been over 5 weeks. I keep a couple of ssds on hand now so i was not desperate, but if i had been waiting? So would i "save" a few bucks and buy another corsair ssd, no way. I will switch back to samsung, they pay shipping both ways and turn it around a day after they get the one sent them. Very disappointed in corsair ssd.Update 3.23.18 i just "signed for" (happened to be home, would have been infuriating to find the "we were here but you were not" slip on my door, had i not happened to have been here. Anyway, packaging says it came from california, fedex tracking say it came from taiwan through question then to me. I am raising the review to 3 stars from 1. I am doing this for three reasons: one, they did follow through and it might have taken my email to get them to move but they finally did send me a device. Two i sent back a 120gb ssd and they sent me a 240gb ssd (probably the smallest they had now). Three. Unlike samsung, they sent a brand new sealed ssd, where samsung sends one stamped with "refurbished".
