Standard hard drive with exceptional warranty
This is your typical 3.5" 1tb hard drive. It has a bit more cache than cheaper drives, but i didn't notice a speed difference. It's more expensive than the typical one because of the 5-year warranty. Considering most hard drives last about 3 years, that's a pretty good deal. In the past, i've had huge problems getting seagate to honor warranties. I'm using this as a secondary drive for music and downloads and using an ssd as my primary drive.

So far so good
There are a lot of reviews of seagate drives being less than reliable nowadays so i was a little weary of putting this in something that i would be hesitant to lose data on. I decided to use it in an external enclosure and used it as an external storage so if anything happened, i could just download again. The drive seems fast enough, though i could not tell that this was a 7200rpm drive. Compared to the hgst 7200 rpm drive i had a few years ago, where this was a noticeable difference, this seagate seemed similar to other normal 5400 rpm externals. No issues so far, no problems, and it's been almost 3 weeks. Time will tell if this holds up, but as of now, it is good to go. I'll update if anything happens.

Speedy, quiet, fantastic warranty.
I think what impresses me most about this new seagate barracuda pro is that it manages to put out consistent speed, both reading/writing, while simultaneously being so quiet. Gone are the days of noticeable vibration from faster spinning disks, which i'm personally grateful for.You can see from the included image that the speeds benchmark just great, at 172.2mb/s write, 173.9mb/s read. In "actual" use i was seeing spikes up to 185mb/s writing large files to it, which is come ssd levels from some years back. Of course this is not even close to an ssd in 4k read/write times, but for general usage - especially gaming, this is a great little drive, and the price is right.Overall, this has so far been reliable, quiet, and not running too hot under general usage. If anything changes, i'll update here, but so far - highly recommended. The 5-year warranty is icing on an already tasty cake. 5 stars out of 5.

Does exactly what you expect
If you’re experienced at all with computers, there’s a good chance that you know the seagate brand to be of high reputation in the hard drive industry. This drive is of no difference. While it isn’t some revolutionary, crazy high speed drive, it does its job well. For me, it was added into a tower pc to store additional games, since my ssd can’t hold everything (and high capacity ssds are expensive). It’s speeds are as good as one can expect. I played a little bit of portal 2 just to see the loading times between levels and they were maybe a little over 5 seconds. It's important to note that if you are considering this as a sole drive as opposed to having your more frequently used games on an ssd that frame rates are not affected by drive speeds. Additionally i can’t say anything as to the performance of windows if you install it directly to the drive.I included the benchmark scores from userbenchmark.Com should you want that. The number under the “bench” column shows the “real world speed relative to the best alternatives”.

Using for extended storage on ps4
I am using this for extended storage on my ps4. The install was simple, but i did need to use an ssd enclosure to connect it to one of the usb ports on my console. This drive does not come with any cables, but ssd cables are cheap. I have no issues in using this with my ps4; games download to this drive with ease and i notice no slow down in game play.

Thin, light, good performer
This hard drive arrived incredibly well packaged, sealed in a static-resistant plastic envelope and surrounded by bubble wrap inside a sturdy box. It's the thinnest, lightest 1tb 2.5" hard drive that i've encountered. I installed it in a unitek usb 3.0 to sata6g externally powered enclosure. Drivers for the enclosure automatically installed themselves within a few seconds. Using my windows disk management utility, i made a single partition for the drive's full capacity, did an ntfs quick format and assigned a drive letter. Since this hard drive seemed agile through the usb 3.0 port of my computer, i ran a series of benchmark tests, which are shown in the accompanying chart. As you can see most the read/write speeds are almost 170 mb/s. That exceeds the 160 mb/s data speed claimed for this drive even though it's operating through a usb 3.0 port. This drive is thin and fast and could be a good cost-effective upgrade, especially for someone running a 5,400 rpm drive in a laptop computer.

Great thin drive
I really like seagate's barracuda line of drives. I have several operating in various computers and servers. Over the years, they have proven to be relatively dependable and problem free. In fact, this unit is going to replace a 500gb model from the same product line in an older lenovo x220.They're thin (only 7mm) and, again relatively, fast.I've had very few failures and seagate's warranty replacement program is easy to navigate, though you can wait months for a replacement to arrive.Good value for the money, in my opinion.Jerry

Probably good
Set up is easy. But since i've had it and moved my games over to it, i get random lag spikes every few mins. Maybe it's not the drive though, it's not for every game. Hence the 4 stars

Works well and quiet
Personally. It been working great. It survived me installing 500gigs of stuff in a constant run. So that's usually a good sign. It runs quietly as well. Only negative is a usually for drives sense space can vary, 80gigs smaller than advertised.
