Can't go wrong with more ram
I have an older imac that can't address more than 3 gb of ram, even though you can physically install 2 x 2 gb sticks. However, there's some belief that installing matching pairs (meaning in this case, getting my 3 gigs out of 2 x 2 gb sticks rather than a 1 gb plus a 2 gb) gives you an extra performance boost, so i went ahead and installed these. I haven't done any swapping out with other configurations and running tests to see if it helped or not; ram is so cheap these days that i'm not worried about "wasting" a gig there.Besides, i got to take the old ram out of the imac and stick it in my macbook, thereby bumping that machine from 1 gb to 2 gb. So basically, for $45, i got to upgrade two computers. And actually, the macbook is the one that has benefited the most.Performance-wise, i haven't had any problems with the mushkin ram. Others have written online that it's a reputable brand. It seated without trouble and was recognized immediately. And did i mention the price was right?
