Good adapter but will need to work around drivers for it
I bought this adapter because i upgraded my 128gb msata ssd to a 256gb msata ssd. I needed to clone my old msata drive, so i bought the apricorn usb 3.0 upgrade kit (basically a usb to sata adapter cable and the cloning software). I've used the usb 2.0 apricorn adapter kit previously to clone an ssd drive to both a ssd drive and a traditional hard drive and am very happy with the process of using the kit. So i placed the new 256gb msata drive into the syba adapter and then connected the syba adapter into the apricorn sata connectors. I then connected the apricorn usb connector into the usb 3.0 plug. In my past experience, i used the cd that came with the apricorn kit to boot to as it was bootable and the usb 3.0 version was the same but when i booted to the apricorn cd and ran the cloning software, i was getting messages that the apricorn usb adapter could not be found. I unconnected everything and re-connected everything but was getting the same results. I want to boot to the apricorn cd and run the cloning software directly from the cd instead of running the cloning software in windows 7 to try to avoid any issues as i was cloning the main system hard drive.I had no choice but to boot to windows 7, which was from my msata drive that i was replacing and then running the apricorn cloning software on the cd. The cloning software found the new msata drive that was still connected to the syba adapter, which was connected to the apricorn sata to usb adapter because as soon as windows 7 booted up, it found the apricorn and syba adapters and installed the right drivers. I was able to successfully clone my old 128gb msata (which the cloning software was running from) to my new 256gb msata - i have to give kudos to apricorn because their cloning software used a 'hot copy' method and i verified the clone was done with no errors and the entire msata was clone to the new drive). The reason i was not able to clone from the cd and not windows 7 was because when i booted from the apricorn cd, the drivers for the syba adapter was not loaded and thus the syba adapter along with the msata installed in it was not found as well. In the end, i was able to accomplish what i need to do but the not by my first choice, which i considered the safest way to clone my msata drive. Due my specific requirements, i am still giving the syba adapter 5 stars because windows 7 found the drivers and installed the drivers right and after booting into windows 7, i had no issues with the syba adapter. The syba adapter did what is was suppose to do, the apricorn upgrade kit as well performed as specified, it was just my specific situation that i need to go to a plan b. I thing if you are going to install this adapter into a desktop sata connector, you should have no issues.

Worked well after mods
This is a great little adapter except for 1 oversight on the makers part. They left long soldered pins sticking out far enough on the backside of the printed circuit board that it will not mount properly in an external drive caddy. A little judicious filing with a micro file took care of this oversight and it works great now. Another issue they might have brought up is that some ssds generate a lot of heat and might need a fan to cool them down. The device worked well for me after the mods and fan were added.
Hot lil bugger
I put a kingston 60gb msata on this and it works swell. The screaming fly in the ointment is heat. I added (jury rigged) a small fan and life is good. Check your msata chip size before ordering as some won't work, maybe causing deletions and stuff.

Bought two.
Bought two of these for older white macbooks 2006 and a mac mini intel duo 2206 i guess ...And they work well. And those old macs work incredible with ssd's.I learn something important: these adapters won't work on a mbp 2011 and mac mini 2011 and probably won't on newer models. After reading lots of forums i learned that the new motherboards won't boot up from msata drives at least **using** this kind of adapter. I tried that and i was able to boot from msata but suddenly the mac will not recognize the as well. I tested the writing and reading speeds and this adapter does not affect the performance.I gave it 4 stars because you will need to do what buyer "bitbob" says in his review on july 17, 2013.Hope this helps.
Works as advertised just need a bit of modding
Works fine, but one will need to file off the solder bumps at the rear of the board to achieve a flat mounting. Hence knocking off one star.

Works well, could use better mounting
When i upgraded from a motherboard with an msata connector to one without i needed an msata to sata adapter. My samsung msata drive snapped in perfectly and worked right out of the box with no drivers or special settings needed. My only complaint is the device does not provide a good method for mounting it to the inside of the pc case. It does have holes that you can insert screws through but they are not threaded and no brackets are included. Fortunately i have a lot of spare parts lying around and was able to make something work.

Worked as advertised.
Was looking for an internal msata adapter for a desktop. I did not have any issues with the adapter working with the crucial m500 msata drive.
