Description

Built for optimum NAS compatibility - Desktop drives aren't purpose-built for NAS. But WD Red drives with NASware technology are. Our exclusive technology takes the guesswork out of selecting a drive. WD Red drives are for small NAS systems, and our unique algorithm balances performance and reliability in NAS and RAID environments. Simply put, a WD Red drive is one of the most compatible drives available for NAS enclosures. But don't take our word for it. WD Red drives are a reflection of extensive NAS partner technology engagement and compatibility-testing resulting in a leading compatibility list for NAS systems. Workload Rate is defined as the amount of user data transferred to or from the hard drive.

  • Specifically designed for use in NAS systems with up to 8 bays
  • Tested for 24x7 reliability
  • Built for optimum NAS compatibility
  • Premium support and a 3-year limited warranty

Extremely noisy and already showing bad sectors
I got to say these wd red 8tb drives are extremely noisy. I’m not talking about seek noise, i’m talking about vibration noise. These drives make a constant really low resonant sound thats loud enough to be heard through walls of a house. It drove me nuts i replaced it with a seagate ironwolf 8tb drive. In comparision i have 3 8tb ironwolfs running in a nas and even though all 3 are running at the same time in raid they wisper quiet compared to running just one wd red. No idea why the red runs so loud. On top of that the red is already showing bad sectors that i hadn’t noticed that started within a few months on being on. Pretty bad.
