Works perfectly in my home theater room
Yesterday, i had one ethernet wire in my ht room feeding my roku, while the projector, ht pc (tuner), apple tv, blu-ray, and game systems were all on wifi. Now everything with an ethernet port is connected to ethernet through this switch.Setup is easy as long as you've got several short ethernet cords. There's no power switch. If it's plugged in, it's on. I plugged the ethernet feed into a port in one end, and the wires to all of my components into the rest of the ports at random, set them up to use a wired connection vs. The wifi they were using previously, and i was in business. I got one illuminated led when i plugged it in, and more came on every time i plugged something else in. If a light is blinking, there's data moving around. I made sure the first thing worked (roku) and then plugged everything else in.I can't really comment on speed, except to say that i can watch hd video over the internet.

Just what i needed to reduce the clutter on the desktop

Plug it in, it works.
Plug and play - what's not to like?I'm taking off one star, which may be unfair, because it has a standard transformer lump at the plug end of the power supply cord. The star comes off because the tines of the plug are set sideways so the transformer lump blocks adjacent plugs. See my image. The switch itself is white, with little greenish lights - one for each of the items you plug into it. You just plug an ethernet cord connector to your router into any socket, then plug your other stuff into the other ethernet ports on the tenda, and it is all connected to your router.I plugged this tenda 8-port into another (netgear) switch, which is plugged directly into my asus router. Then i plugged a tivo mini into the tenda 8-port, and right away the tivo worked perfectly. So you can daisy chain (see my image) these switches so that you have enough hardwired connections to your router for all your security cameras and what-not.The collection of devices grows ominously, so stock up on these switches for a compatible set all of one technological level.

Hard to imagine not having one of these around as more things rely on your modem!
a deceptively simple little device that was really effective at adding more ports to my gateway modem. You don't have to worry about what plug to use you just connect it to from your router to any available port on the tenda and it works. These are useful when you have additional ethernet capable items that need to plug into the modem and you have more ports available. For example, vonage or any voip phone, my garage door alert, my additional router (like orbi), and my cell phone extender and my printer. For the price and for the function, it's a useful accessory and worth having around.

It works, but why would you buy a 10/100 switch in today's market?
I got the 10/100 8 port switch. There are times i'll still get a 10/100 poe switch because the cameras usually don't need gigabit, but i'm not sure when i would prefer a 10/100 8 port switch. It's pretty cheap, but the trendnet or tp-link gigabit metal switches often go for sale for around $20. I can't think of when i would prefer this over that. This is a 8 port switch with a very small footprint. It's plastic, but just at 10/100 speed i'm not very worried about heat. It as well just works. Every port works on the switch i got. I've used a lot of tenda products lately, and i've had issues with none of them.I understand that you may just need a switch and don't care much about speed. If spending the least is your number one goal, sure get this 10/100 8 port switch. But considering you can pay a little more and get gigabit, you should definitely get gigabit. This is almost obsolete technology.

Compact size; great for travel
Eight ports in a little over 4-inches in width. Great for portability and to have on-hand for convenience at hotels, work, etc.

Simple but effective
I got this to use at home. Devices multiply like rabbits and make a confusing and irritating mess. This device is small and compact. It is simple to set up. It is genuinely plug and play. The indicator lights are nice and bright and so far everything has been working well with no disruptions or decrease in speed. I am quite pleased with its simplicity and performance.

A small, extremely simple, inexpensive way to expand the number of devices you can connect to your wifi in minutes.
For clarity sake, i'm posting about the 8 port switch since there are several lumped together here, though i would imagine they all operate about the same. The first obvious item of note is how relatively small this package is with minimal design as it should be. There's a power connection on one side that's just plug and go. The 8 ethernet attachment docks are side by side and undifferentiated. After plugging and powering the switch you'll see a small green led light up. You simply take an ethernet cable from any available on your router and connect it from the router to the opening on the opposite end of where the power cord is attached. So although it's designated an 8-port switch, one of those is used for the input of the router, so now you actually have 7 usable to connect any devices you wish to lock into your wifi. My previous router only offered a stingy 4 ports and my present router has a more generous 5 ports, though that still wasn't enough. Connecting and linking to my system took literally seconds and works flawlessly. The small size means you can position it almost anywhere and it takes up minimal space. Brilliant and efficient at a very minimal price point. The only negative, if you can call it that, was the instructions for installation are printed in multiple languages in a near microscopic font on a small paper insert. Thank goodness the operation is so elegantly simply. Extremely happy to have this expansion area now without needing to unplug something temporarily from the router to make room for whatever device needed it most. Highly recommended.

Great basic switch, good for most home uses and a lot of small businesses, plenty of ports, reliable
It's a good switch at this price. I like that it has 8 ports. I don't need that many right now but it seems i keep getting more and more things in that require a wired connection. There's plenty of room to actually use each port too, they aren't so close together that they are too crowded to actually use. It has been reliable for me. The indicator lights are easy to read and see.The main downsides are that it is plastic and it might not be that durable in some situations as a metal switch will be. (like my knocking it off the shelf constantly as i have sometimes been known to do when dusting or managing cables.) , as well note that it is not one of the newer poe (power over ethernet) switches. That won't matter for most uses, but i am seeing more and more equipment that requires it, especially more commercial networking equipment, so if i were buying a switch for a business network, i'd probably go ahead and opt for a poe capable switch. Likewise, if i were considering going to gigabit ethernet in the new future, i'd probably spend just a few more dollars for a gigabit switch. This is plenty fast for home use though, or streaming, or gaming. It's better than a hub because each port will get the maximum throughput.I'm giving it a 5 because it is a reliable product at a great price. It's not the best switch out there, but it's an excellent value.

Works as advertised. Plug and play.
This tenda 8-port replaces a tenda 4-port which replaced a very noisy linksys. This tenda like its smaller brother does not have a fan like the linksys. But it's just the right size. Not too small and enough room for growth.I am just rather surprised by the housing. The 4-port has a metal frame. This is plastic and teeny. Longer, but smaller than the 4-port. It was truly plug and play. No problems. Made in china.
