Nice idea, poor split

I like the idea of this; a cheap, easy and small usb 3.0 gigabit ethernet dongle that doesn't need a driver installed. Perfect for new macbooks without built-in ethernet, and in theory, a great alternative to the thunderbolt usb ethernet adapter - if only it worked.With the driver built into yosemite, or the most recent driver made available by realtek, this device connects initially but fails under any sort of load. Shows connected, doesn't pass traffic. Fail.In addition, while i like the idea of a replaceable cable with the dongle, it'd be much better if the cable connected securely - it wobbles, and comes loose far too easily. A more secure connector would be a huge improvement.My advice? Wait for a version 2 that connects securely and actually works.

Does not work as expected!

I have owned this adapter since 2 months. It used to disconnect intermittently earlier also but since this past week it has been dropping connection every 5 minutes. I have to unplug it from my laptop and plug it back for it to work. Does not work as expected!

Could have been perfect

Windows 10 had some issues with dropping. It wasn't the adapter. Mine works well, stays put, and i have enough short & long usb3 cables to enjoy they didn't include one; i like the flexibility to extend the ethernet cable if i want. It's very compact.Edit: yeah, now it's flaky. I imagine it's a combination of not following firmware standards and marginal (should work perfectly under ideal conditions) hardware. (don't tell the kids, but the real world doesn't have ideal conditions.)
